About Me

Welcome to Dartmoor Massage. I’m Lily, and I am a qualified sports massage therapist based in South Devon.
I hold a BTEC Professional Diploma (level 5) in Sport and Remedial Massage from the Massage Training School in Exmouth - you can find out more about this qualification and what it means below – and I am an accredited member of the ISRM (The Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage).
I use massage and soft tissue techniques to assess and treat pain and muscular skeletal problems. My priority is to not only help relieve your pain but also get to the root of the problem, which is often different from the site of pain. I do this by working closely with you to understand and resolve the issue – and ultimately aim to improve posture, increase flexibility and build strength.

Finding the right approach for you
I became interested in sports massage after receiving free treatment from the North London School of Sports Massage during training for a charity run from London to Cardiff in 2010. I completed seven marathons in seven days without sustaining any serious injury – and the experience made me want to better understand the human body and how injury can be prevented and treated.
Sports massage is not just for athletes though. It can benefit people of all ages from all walks of life and, contrary to popular belief, it should NOT be painful! Massage aids muscle recovery and helps maintain the condition of soft tissue and whether you are training for an ultramarathon, injured as a result of spending too long sitting in front of a computer, or wish to prevent future injury, I can help you.
Please take a look at the types of massage available, and if you’re not sure what’s right for you please do get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.

My qualifications

I hold a BTEC Professional Diploma (Level 5) in Sports & Remedial Massage, the highest qualification offered by The Institute of Sport & Remedial Massage (ISRM).
This qualification has become the benchmark for quality training in the sports and remedial massage industry, and those who hold it are deemed fully competent in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of soft tissue injuries, whether caused by a sporting activity or by postural and occupational origins.
The qualification is externally validated by Edexcel/BTEC – the national awarding body for vocational education and training.
I studied for my diploma at The Massage Training School in Exmouth, one of the network of schools and training centres specifically selected by the ISRM to offer this level of qualification.
