There are so many reasons that I am going to have to do this in parts. Part one is the most important: Because it feels fantastic.

No it doesn’t? Yes, it does. Ok, at first it doesn’t. It’s hard. Your legs feel heavy, your lungs are wheezing, you may have a stich, and if you’re anything like me, you are the colour of beetroot risotto. However, this does not last. Even as an experienced runner you may find it hard to get going at the start of a run, but you know it does not last. The feeling as your body warms into it and your legs find their rhythm is exhilarating.

As I have mentioned I am not a fast runner and have limited natural ability, but this doesn’t matter; I feel as if I’m flying. I have seen the truth as I pass shop windows: I’m pink, sweaty, and my feet seem to barely leave the ground, but I still feel as if I’m flying.

The first time you feel this as a beginner it is immense. YOU did this, YOU ARE doing this. Your hard work is paying off. This is your body and you are making it work the way it should work.

Endorphins are some good shizz.
